Tri-Cabin Alarm System Question

Post by k9th »

I have been reading in my owners manual about an alarm system that alerts you to such things as low oil pressure etc. My 79 Tri-Cabin alarm system either does not function or has been disabled. I have never heard it even when I flip the ignition switch to the on position before engaging the starter.

Does anyone know where the physical components that make up the alarm system are located on the boat?

It could be your buzzer is broken or disconnected. Usually the engine has a sensor that sends a signal to the alarm device. Ie...oil press, coolant temp, transmission temp. The buzzer should be located around your helm. On mine it is under the helm. They buzz as you said, as soon as you turn on the inginition :? ......

On our 73 F36, the componants that make up this system were manufactured by Cole Hersey.
Here is a link to a PDF that explains how to install one / how it works.

Flybridge models had a pair of buzzers installed at both helm stations. I recently replced the buzzers at the bridge when replacing ignition switches as the old ones had corroded and no longer buzzzzzzed.
