Isn't that just covering the marina for damage caused by your vessel ? Say, an electrical fire or a fuel leak. For my heating license I have to add the City of Syracuse in case the city gets sued (because I'm a license holder) as a result of my work.

my marina just requires proof that the vessels docked there are insured and they do check on the policies. they do stipulate that during the winter if you are in the water that you do not live on board, and wooden hull vessels are not allowed. the one thing that i do not agree with though is the 4 dollar electric "meter reading fee" and the higher than normal for the county electric rate.

Paul, my marina requested it too a few years ago and requires that they be named as an additional insured...
I never added it or provided it to them. I refuse to pay a premium, listing them as an insured party.

I deal with this all the time, we are a manufacturer and our customers request to be named and show a certificate of insurance. This is if our product causes a claim our insurance would pay. This does not cost us anything in addition to our insurance. I have been at marinas that request a copy of you insurance policy so they know you are insured. I have never heard of requesting the customer to pay for being named on their policy.

My marina required insurance and needed proof. They also requested to be named as additional insured. I never added them and the subject hasn't come up since.....

it's no different then when you are renting an office or retail store space. You list the property owner on the policy as well. Their insurance will cover them if you don't have insurance but it isn't really costing you anything to add them to the policy.

Yes it will cost me , a lot of Insurance co. will not put a marina on your poicy as a insured party . so I would have to change to someone like boatus(at a rip off price) plus the cost of a survery . .
