318 Oil leak

Post by gofish103 »

I noticed oil in my engine compartment that past couple times that we returned from a day trip. Got the oil cleaned up and searched for the leak but no luck, started the engine and let it idle for awhile and still no luck.

Well last weekend I notice quit a bit of oil!!! started the engine and put my hand under the oil filter adapter and filled the palm of my hand in no time!!! So Im assuming that the oil filter adapter is leaking. I got a gasket for it. But my question is....... the adapter is held on by on large bolt that goes thru the center of the adapter to the block. Im a GM guy and have very little experience with Chryslers, so when i take that bolt out, whats behind the adapter (springs??) or is it just a the plate and gasket? What do I torque the bolt to after re assembly??
