10.8 macerator

I have a 1989 10.8 innternational and was hoping someone could help me with a macerator question. Many people talk about having a y valve in order to operate their macerator. I looked below by the macerator pump and only see a sea cock to open. I also know that the panel board has a pump out toggle switch. My question: Does the 10.8 have this y valve or do you just throw the toggle switch and open the sea cock? I also understand where permissible!!!

My 10 meter has the same setup. There is a t-fitting just aft of the seacock, I would assume you open the valve and flip the switch.

The waste appears to enter the front of the pump and exits the rear of the pump which leads directly to the sea cock. I don't see a t valve.

As I recall, the factory setup allows the macerator to pull waste from the tank and pump it overboard.

There should be a tee fitting downstream of the macerator in the event the deck fitting is used at a pumpout facility.

My 1983 10 meter express cruiser (not mid cabin) has no "y" valve, just a tee fitting.

I would think the tee would be before the macerator so the pumpout wouldn't have to draw the waste through the pump.

You are correct, my downstream/upstream error!

The tee is between the tank & the macerator.

Make sure you have a TALL LOOP IN THAT MACERATOR HOSE TO THE TOP OF THE ENGINE ROOM to be sure of anti syphon issues.
