Great advice

Post by bmack »

Took your alls advice on the water sytem winterization bypassing the Hot Water Heater. Must of had the system mostly empty cuz very little ran out of the heater. I would like to just drain the blocks etc. on the engines but Im afraid of not having anything in the mufflers to keep from freezing. Your thoughts.

I would just pour a gal of the pink stuff down the exhust. Or better yet run it thru the engine and let it come out the exhust .

Just remove the intake hose from the through-hull (remember to shut the seacock off) and suck up a gallon or two of the pink, until you see it run out the exhaust, then shut her down...

If any liquid is sitting in the bottom of the mufflers, it'll be protected to a certain degree of temperature. What you need to worry about is the confined internals in the engine and exhaust, where if liquid (water) were to freeze and expansion takes place from ice, it won't crack anything.

You'll be fine if you run pink through the system.

Thats what I usually do but I have been draining the blocks first and it seems to take nearly 5 gals/ engine. You guys saved me so much on the water system I was about to throw a huge party with more savings. Thanks for the help!!!
