New to me 26' 1968 TB
1968 26' Trojan - chrysler 318 - we just got this boat about 2 months and just finished fully restoring the structure of the boat - it has definitely been a treat to work with this boat - now we are moving on the engine - first off we need a new impeller - does anyone know where is the best place to get one, about how much? we are installing points and condenser as well but the engine manual is long gone - does anyone know the gaps that the points need to be set at? - thanks

not much I can tell you about the mechanics of the boat, but I'm interested in hearing about it, how you got it and your plans for it.
And your question about an impeller-is it an I\O? Otherwise I'm not so sure it has an impeller. I have always assumed that a 318 would have a water pump on the engine with a raw water pick up and not an impeller like an I\O.
Again-mechancis are not my stong suite, but I'll chime in when I think I can be of assistance.

well the story is ..... I live in nashville tn and i was looking for a similar year cris craft - i was the lookin through the nashville paper and came across a classified for 1968 26' trojan for 2000 dollars - i was very sceptical but called anyway - a buddy and i went to look at it - it was sitting out of water and had been for over 2 years and hadnt ran in two years - we have had it for about a month - we have basically completely re done the whole vessel - all wood from about mid way up the hull from front to rear, we pulled up the entire deck and redid the deck, the interior is in above average condition - the before and after pictures are quite a sight - she splashes on monday for the first time in two years - the guy we bought it from was actually goin to cut it up and just sell the motor - i just dont see how anyone could have the heart to do that to a boat thats been around for so long that just needed some elbow grease and tlc - nevermind about all the engine questions too - we pulled the rotor button off the distributor and cleaned all the black off and she started right up not missing a beat - it purrs to be honest the engine sounds so good to be 40 years old - we are so excited - after the price we paid for the boat and the all the new wood and various parts and transport expense - total we have about 5000 in it and we are very pleased

chumwithabottleofrum . sames holds for your engine and most others unless you have a I/O then in most cases its in the outdrive on a merc .
a volvo I/O would have the raw water pump on the engine ( crank mount)

I have a Ford 302 (original) in my boat but have rebuilt the raw water pump with new impellor
and other assorted guts and bearings, I also replaced the points with an electronic ignition that fits in the distrubutor
and works awesome. Boat starts right up first time, everytime.
only about $50

Well she is in the water and sitting in the slip at a marina in nashville - the engine just purrs and she looks great sitting in the water - the fresh shining coat of paint looks great - we still need to replace the impellar and change the oil before she starts regular weekly use - so she has driven around the marina on a slow no wake idle but hasnt been run out in open water at a decent speed -

Hi all,
I just signed up to the forum and have enjoyed reading all of your posts. I am looking to purchase a '68 Trojan Bimini. Any help pointing me in the direction would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Sean
