If you're going to mount a laptop, why not get the GPS software, (most are free) down load it to your laptop, connect to a compatible GPS and use the screen as the monitor...

It's just a docking station... does not need a wheel.

First I need to thank Stripperman for posting the pics of Duchess. The lower helm wasnt as difficult as i first thought . The console sliped off like taking a sock off . The helm hydrolic lines are capped off . you can see them in one of the pics. The clutchs and throttles simply moved down 6 inches . The helm itself is in my attic as a spare and the trim tab rockers are mounted inside the wall. If you look at the pics most everything else is self explained. The T V is mounted on an upside down bracket from any t v store. The am/fm radio is a Jensen which also plays cd s and dvd s .Its wired to the t v and speaker system. The wife complained about not having enough counter space so i made up the cutting board over the 2 burner stove. Its really a serving tray turned upside down . I can show another pic of it if you want. The new blinds are from Blinds to Go and I made valences for over the windows as they were not standard in 87. She also has inner spring mattresses made up for us by Gioia Sails in Lakewood N J No there arent any changes to the upper helm. She has a 4 kw Furino with 7 inch color chartplotter/radar and Garmin plotter as backup. We ve put over 5500 miles on her so far . We redid the interior last winter changing the interior to blue from burgandy. The rear drapes match the triangles over the side windows.
It s not really a docking station. I removed the helm in order to gain space. With the enclosed flybridge we never used the lower helm. The gauges were left in for 2 reasons one i use them when doing tune ups and i like to keep an eye on the gauges if i m in the cabin while we re cruising. My wife runs the boat more than i do and yes that includes docking and close quarters manuvering, She s as good as most men at it and really enjoys doing. Years ago coming back from Cape May running up the coast she mentioned being bored that was an alarm bell !! So i began to teach her how to really handle the boat and navigate, Over the years she has come to really enjoy it and is now never bored .
