I tried welding mine (f-32) and it would not work due to casting porosity and salt intrusion.

I was able to source new ones from the manufacturer (Buck Algonquin) using the casting number of the side of the strut.

Broken Strut - 1974 F32

Post by rossjo »

My diver showed up today to clean my bottom, and told me I have a broken strut on my 1974 F32.

Where did you guys find one? What Buck Algonquin casting is it? Who do I call @ Beacon marine?

BUCKNEKKID's new strut was a different "trianguluar" design that looks much stronger. Is this available for tehe F32. If so, I'd have to drill new holes, and fill the old (not trivial).

Sounds like I have a lot of work ahead of me. Any other advice?

I have an old one in the back yard,,,, hahahaaa Take a lot of measurements,, width, angle, etc. the strut will give you the same location, comes with a cutlass bearing installed and the angles must match. Location holes dont really matter. Use all new hardware!!!!!
