I've been a stranger lately and miss the technical and other conversation. My normally free time has been gobbled-up this year by the stock market and side projects.
Side Project 1: I wrote a book about a deceased client of mine that was the most successful jewel theif in American history. He was a WWII night fighter who had PTSD bad and became a gentleman burglar because of nocturnal restlessness. The rough draft is sitting on Michael Mann's desk right now - hope they do something with it.
Side Project 2: In Sept. it started to smell like the economy might recover a bit with the market. So, I started the custom boat company back up. I'm having a couple 42" models made in China for boat shows. Want one?
Side Project 3: After 4 years of screwing around with the "Barnacle Barrier" under my boat, I think I finally have a good design to share with the world. So, I'm starting to put together a book about how to build your own for under $200.
Gotta keep busy...it keeps me outta' trouble...a little!

Yeah...that's a bit more tricky. I have a couple designs in mind but haven't laid them out yet to actually make one and see what the problems might be. The thing is so easy to move that you might be able to just slide it under the running gear from the side...or something. Will work on it.
You know...the whole inspiration for this is that the tree huggers are getting ready to make a push to disallow divers from scraping your boat. They say it chips off too much bottom paint and is creating a toxic zone around marinas. I think it's all crap...but if you can't have a diver scrape the barnacles things are going to get expensive!
I have worked on several designs for my barnacle barrier - but I have to back into my dock, so its harder than yours where you go in nose first.
Hey man! Well, make some suggestions and I'll throw something together for the book if you want to share with the public. You can't patent any of this stuff...it'll just get stolen anyway. So, might as well share credit on the book.
One cool thing to mention: the U of FL finally perfected sharkskin type surfaces so barnacles don't want to stick...they gotta big grant from the Navy. I'm talking to them to see if they can make Herculite (material I use) have that kind of surface so barnacles won't easily grow on the bottom.
There are already patents on using a membrane to keep barnacles off your boat(google 'Mooring Bunker')....I researched it because I have been using a blue Lowe's tarp for a year to keep my running gear clean. You have to weight one edge of it down with net leadline so you can pull it under the props and rudders & mine is held up by small lines instead of floats.

Sure. You can have models made of anything. The problem is you have to have a computer design genius "digitize" the model with a 3D CAD program. I had that done when we designed the this boat from scratch. But I don't know where you'd get that for an existing design??
I hate to give biz to China, but it was $1400 compared to the cheapest quote I got here for $6000 and I think they had the work done overseas anyway. There's a business opportunity there for a guy who can have the CAD design done for any boat, have the model made in China and then sell them for a mark-up here.

Right. One chapter in the book is where you can buy a bunker if you're not a do-it-yourselfer.
Here the thing for marina slips: If you use an old billboard, that Herculite is slightly negatively buoyant. So, if you put brass eyelets all the way around and ran 4 lines (one for each straight edge), you could just drop it to the bottom when leaving port and yank it back up under the boat after returning.
I'm trying to think of something a bit more refined that would be book chapter worthy...but the practical use of it isn't that complicated. If you keep the water trapped under your boat, you won't get new barnacles...that's it!

Whose? Danny's or mine? I bought mine on Ebay from a guy who had it on an express style boat. A welder I know put feet on it that attach to the side of the bridge. Good thing that Trojan did such heavy glasswork...you couldn't attach it like that to a cheaper made boat.
