Hello All, Let me begin with a introduction. My Name is Jimmy, I just purchased a 1980 26 foot Trojan with fly bridge. Love The boat, cant believe how well built she is and spacious for a 26 footer. The boat sat in slip in water for 2 years , friend of owner would start her now and then.. She was repowered in 2000 and has bluewater merccruiser. Runs great.

1st. Looks like she had a hot water heater, followed copper line behind center fuel tank and it dead ends. What type of heater would she have come with ?

2nd. Head seems to be a "traveler" style, porcalin bowl on top of a 10 gall hold tank 2hich uses fresh water to flush. She has a whale type bellows pump with 2'' hose.. Is this used to flush thru hull ? I know not legal but just want to know how it was from factory.

Welcome to the forum. Loads of good info or humor, whichever you're ready for. My F-36 had a head that sounds similiar to yours, and yes you could open a valve and pump it overboard. I pulled it out this fall and installed a composting head. Best $900 I ever spent.

Welcome to the forum! Good luck with your F-26, It is a great boat. I don't have a hot water heater on mine so I'm not sure where it was originally located, however if it is just behind the fuel tank that is where your steering gear and rudder post are located, not sure if it would have been put there. Do you know if you have the original fuel tank? It might be an old fuel line from the tank, do you know its diameter?

As for your overboard discharge, mine was located directly under the helm. I had a different setup than you are describing. The through hull has since been removed.

Welcome aboard Jimmie!

I have a 1977 F-26 Hardtop and also can send you electrical and plumbing diagrams if you want. I replaced the original water heater a couple of years ago. It was an option on the boat when new. You can buy just about 10-11 gallon 120 Volt AC water heater and install it. Need to remove the exhaust manifold to get it in, but it can be done. If you have fresh water cooling you can have it plumbed to a heat exchange model and have hot water any old time you want without plugging in at the dock electrical - or so I've been told. I have raw water cooling so my water heater is only good for AC power.

Your head most likely is a replacement for the orginal. My boat has a 20 gallon holding tank on the starboard side of the engine room - just aft of the water heater. My fresh water tank is on the port side of the engine room. The head is supplied by a through hull on the starboard side, and there is either a plugged through hull on that side for yours or you can have one installled if you want to replace the porta-potti set up. If you do you have a lot of options for a head - electric or manual.

Welcome to the forum Jimmy, I had a 26 before I bought my 32. I consider the 26 one of Trojan's best models. They called it the smallest "yacht" you can buy, and they were right.
