1978 F26 in Orange Park
I am restoring a 1977 F26 and would like to know about your engine, transmission, and propeller. What is your setup and what is your speed at 2000, 3000, and 4000 rpm's?
I replaced the original Chrysler 318 with a Chrysler 360. My transmission is still 1:1. My first sea trial was with a 13x9 Dyna-Jet and the boat only made it up to 13 mph. The boat hull speed should be 25 mph?
Thank you for the the help.
Michael

I think Paul addressed his prop in another thread, he is running a 14 x 9. I have a 1975 F-26, and have a 330HP fuel injected crusader, borg warner 1:1 I'm running a 14x10 cupped Nibral Propeller.
2600-2700rpm gets me in the neighborhood of 15-16kts
3000 rpm 17-18kts
3500 rpm 22-23kts
5100 rpm 31 kts. (My rpm range is 4800 - 5200)
My old 318, 225hp ran the same prop but only turned up to 3900-4000rpm
speeds were similar to the above, 25mph should be about right.
Is your prop RH or LH?
Matt

F26 prop
The original Chrysler 318 was right-hand. The Chrysler 360 is left-hand.
The prop size that seems to be common for the F26 is 14x10. The 14 inch diameter gives me about 1.5" clearance between blade tips and the underside of the hull. A 15" prop is tempting however I don't want to overtorque the shaft.
I hope to get a Michigan Wheel DJX because of the EAR=0.61.

Hi Michael,
The 14x10 should be a good fit for your application. I recommend a full cup with it though. Without the cup, the prop would slip and not bite the water and the performance was lackluster. I was surprised but the cup made a HUGE difference in performance on my F-26. Mine is a Michigan Wheel Dyna Jet super cupped, .56 E.A.R

That 14x10 I have is not cupped. Maybe that's what I should try have it cupped and see what it does for me.
