Lehman Diesels

Post by gettaway »

The Ford Lehman diesels are a great enigne , used primarily in 70's and early 80'2 trawlers. The enignes are bullet proof, and owners say break in is at about 2000 hours, and a life of 10,000 before an o/h.
I had one in my 34' CHB trawler ran her at 7 knots sipping 1.7 gallons an hour.
The downside for the F-32 is the HP to Weight factor, producing just 120 hp at almost 1200 lbs. of weight, great for a displacement hull , bad to plane.
Cruising at 7 knots for the 75 mile trip to Catalina took a bit of time to get accustomed to, one you got in the "slow mode" the journey was quite nice.
