well i guess garmin wins, but i will say that Lowrance has changed alot since they were bought out by simrad, and i put 75 hrs on mine last yr and had no trouble from it. it's like the pc vs mac thing it's all in want you learn on. but I'll give you this I do wish the screen was a little bigger. the 5200 will take radar, fuel sensors and other add on stuff, it comes down to the $'s you want to spend.

Garmin all the way...

I have the 2010 with the 10" screen, very user friendly.

Rodman, i too am a garmin fan. Just be sure to figure $10,000 if you want that system to do "all in one" It maybe $2000 for the unit itself, but another $200 for the remote sounder and $300-400 for the transducer, $200 for gps antenna and $3500 for sonar functions etc etc. I am hoping within a month i will have my boat in the water and i recently purchased a used garmin 3010c it came with a remote sonar. I just paid $300 for the transducer and lucilly i have a professional to help install for exchange for work on his 4 wheeler (250$-$500) normal cost. But anyhoot, you are welcome to come see/play with my unit once installed.

I have 2 Garmins in my airplane and Garmin in the boat. I like the reliability and don't have to learn a new unit. All their functions are similar.

Lowrance HDS-7, nice unit just installed it before I pulled for the winter. Previously all Lowrance units LCX-19, LCX-15, X55, X4 and have never had any issues.
