Spent the Night Out

Post by Rodman »

I spent the night out last night on her for the first time. It was GREAT, The alternator problem was solved. The old one had a built in regulator the new one did not have one. So I bought one and wired it up she stared charging. I found out my Gear Ration is 1 1/2 so the 16x18 is the prop I needed. I do know I have to replace the carburetor I am going to put 650 holly on it. It was nice cruising at 1200 rpm down the St Johns looking at all the gators and birds along the way. I have to say it was most pleasant time I had. Cant wait to do it again.

I thought the conclusion was that the 16" dia. was too close to the bottom.... were you able to get on plane this trip?
That prop seems way too big for that engine setup.... time will tell I guess. Are you planning to put the smaller one on to see if you get max. revs with a clean bottom?

There's nothing better than a pleasant cruise, followed by dinner and drinks on the back deck enjoying good company.

Sleeping on the hook is th ebest. We're going for a few days next week.

I thought you only got 3,000 RPM with the smaller prpp, and couldn't get on plane with a slightly larger one? How do you nos get on plane with a very large 16x18?

Anyway - glad it worked ... howver you got there.
