Hand Pump
Hi all,
My F25 has the original Monomatic head in it. It has the outside plumbing that allows the removal of the waste the marina supplies. It also has a "hand pump"
in, what you might call a closet next to the bath room, which allows the waste to be discharged into the lake. This, I believe is against the law, is it not?
With that in mind, I would like to remove the hand pump and be able to use this area more for hanging clothes or storage.
What are your thoughts about doing this?
Thanks
Larry

That hand pump is for discharge offshore in the ocean.... no reason why you can't disable that.

I don't see why you need it, just make sure you don't have a sea-cock that's open, that would be bad

[quote="jimbo36"Ready123, are you sure you can still discharge offshore in the ocean. I thought this practice was stopped a while ago?
If not, it should be! jimbo36[/quote]I agree it should be.... you think cruise ships get pumpouts when they return to port

3 miles out and pump away, Feed the fish
I'll make the trip just to do it if the pump out is down in the marina, big lakes are not included of course, But would the carp eat crap ?

If the pump is in the closet as is the one on my F28 it may be as is mine the emergency bilge pump to use incase electrics out and taking on water. I know absolutely mine only goes to the bilge then overboard and has not connection to the sanitary storage. (honey pot)

larryeddington,
The manual bilge pump is located behind a door just under a drawer located beside the fridge.
When I bought the boat, the fellow told me that if the water became so bad as to have to use it, you may as well abandoned ship.
At least he was honest. But I tried it one time, and couldn't get it to do anything?

a little of topic but you asked about discharge overboard
if your on percy priest lake which i googled your marina location under your pic here is what i found about overboard discharge
A: J. Percy Priest Lake is designated as a “No Discharge†lake by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, and all recreational vessels must use vessel pumpout facilities provided by project marinas. It is against the law to discharge treated or untreated sewage directly into the lake. Each marina on the lake provides pumpout services, so contact the marina closest to you to make arrangements for your vessel.
