Cabin Roof

So I bought myself an old 25 foot Sea Raider, and the cabin roof was kinda rotten under the vinyl so I pulled it apart and replaced the structure that was rotten with mahogany, and the cabin roof with 1/4" marine plywood. I was wondering what you gentlemen would recommend for:
1 filling some of the spaces left over like wood putty or epoxy/sawdust?
2 should I recover the roof with vinyl or should I fiberglass?
I think fiberglass is the way to go but what a pain! any input would be appreciated.

fill it with bondo and glass it

vote for epoxy with fibers,micro spheres,or saw dust.of course glass is best,but depends on you're tolerance for the pain in the butt factor...might even consider some good quality marine paint....unless you're looking to reinforce structure w the glass...

The structure is ok I beleive and I was going to fill screw holes, etc and then paint with liquid vinyl I do think glassing is the best way, but ....

I use west system's 610, it is their epoxy resin and filler in a caulking tube, real easy to use with outstanding bonding strength.

I have done a similar job years ago, and just used a hard wood filler to fill the cracks as needed. We were able to save the vinyl and re-stretch/reuse it after the wood repair. You might want to consider a good epoxy paint vs fibreglassing, but keep in mind the problems of glare... don't go with anything too glossy.
