http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1987/Tr ... ted-States If this boat surveyed good (hull) with no hurricane damage. What would you think it may cost to repower and rewire engines. I don't think I want a project but it has me thinking. Or what do you think it may take to make this a "nice" vessel ?? Give me your thoughts on this.

Repowering from gas to diesel generally involved changing raw water inlets, seacocks, strainers, shafts, logs, transmissions and props, not to mention the fuel system.

This boat is already a diesel, so those costs dissapear.

The question I have is why repower if she already has the diesels & running gear?

And why repower when the engines are only 700 hrs since having a major service :?: :?:
I would take it that way...

To repower would be 2 to 3 times the asking price of the boat . Why not keep what it has ?

$40K for a large diesel powered express. If in good structural and mechanical shape, the res is cosmetic and updating. That woudl be a good deal.

I woudl love to have diesel power on my international but current usage wouldn't justify the price.

Thanks guys, I guess the reason behind my question was what if one of these JT's scattered(Murphy's law)???? The cost to replace two engines? She looks a bit rough, but other 11 meters are $90,000 - 100,000 with diesel power. Buy at $40,000 and take a chance or spend $90,000 - 100,000??? I just can't seem to be able to pull the triger

P.S. I joined this web site about six months after I thought I would like an older Trojan. Very informative, learned alot, maybe too much can't pull the trigger.

If Blackjack is everything they say she is, 59,000 isa steal.

And who knows, that's just the asking price.

Johnson & Towers marinized the engines in this 11 meter, they didn't manufacture them. Parts/service/repair are available from any authorized dealer.

Investing in a survey on BLACKJACK may have revealed her to be a tremendous opportunity to get much more boat for the cost.

This 11 meter may be another great opportunity and could probably be bought for less than the asking price. The boats condition really depends on the SURVEY.

Looking for a boat that is located 1000 miles away can be difficult.

There are costs in moving forward with sush a boat. Worthwhile costs, if the value is there and the buyer is serious.

The cost of a survey is about the same as a tank of fuel.

If you are truly SERIOUS, get the survey.

Otherwise, you'll not pull the trigger, unless of course you are not that serious.

There are many on this forum who can help you by sharing our own knowledge and experience with these vessels. If you are serious and find something in my neighborhood, I'lll be glad to give you my own eyes on assesment.
