F-28 Gas Tank switches
Anyone have an F-28 with the l long range tank option?
I have 4 tanks (2 main mid ship and two in the engine room). I see some copper fuel lines that come into 2 manual brass switches mounted just under the engine hatches. The switches appear to be working but I can't for the life of me figure out why when I swap over to the spare tanks the fuel isnt flowing. It seems there must be another switch or something somewhere.
Any ideas?

No... but I wish! we just have the two tanks midship, and it would be awesome to carry more fuel.shawzy44 wrote:Anyone have an F-28 with the l long range tank option?
*sigh*
We have fuel shut-offs everywhere, but i haven't explored them yet. Shut-offs in the cabin near each tank, shut-offs at the engine, and then some "switches" under the engine hatch floor (on the cabin door side).

f28 fuel tanks
My two tanks in engine room are also fresh water tanks. I doubt fuel tanks would have been allowed in the engine room but I do not know where they hid the extra 50 gallon tank that was an option. Ask Bob or Don at Beacon Marine.

Looking at my 1979 manual (its not model-specific), and they don't really say much about the F-28 config with optional additional fuel. For F32 and above with a second pair of tanks there is a set of 4 shutoff valves at the bulkhead, plus the 'crossover' valve. For the F-28 they only depict a 2-tank setup (one shutoff valve for each side plus the crossover valve), but the labelling underneath reads "F-28 Sedan, Twin Screw, with standard and optional fuel (Model 280)" ...
Doesn't appear you have a separate set of valves, so best I can figure is your additional tankage just dumps into the primaries?

Captainmaniac,
I do have two switches (manula brass winged) on aft bulkhead in the engine bay, I think my issue is locating 'crossover' valve. I would have thought the same as you -gravity fed from the 2nd tank(s) to the 2 primary's. But nope.
Thanks.
I will take photos this weekend when I am up at the boat and I guess I need to clmb around and follow the copper fuel lines back.
