Your boat really looks nice. I would love to see a pic before you painted it.

Thanks for the kind words. I wish I had been smart enough to take a bunch of in process pics but I wasn't. Here's one of what it looked like before.

What type of paint

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

I have a 1978 F-32 that was repainted with Imron top to bottom with Hatteras white and black where the black is supposed to be. The hull was redone with Awlgrip.

I could not view your photos. What type of paint did you use?

Jav, that looks fanstastic! However, are you going to re-install your railing around the cockpit? I was thinking at one time, about removing mine for that clean look...but the depth on the sedan is very shallow from the cockpit sole to the gunnel.

On the 32 express, with or without the flybridge, the cockpit sole is lower with a step up under the cabin.

I used Interlux Brightsides. And yes- I am re-installing the rails. I buffed the stainless uprights and am Cetol'ing the rails now. I also bought new cleats and lights- being from 1974, they were pretty weathered.

I like the clean look too but your right- without the rails the gunwales only come up to my knees. Oddly- it doesn't seem bad but with kids and sea's, I'll feel better with the rails on.

I guessing that you striped all the old paint off the frames and did you brush
it on or spray?

window frames

Post by JuiceClark »

Willie,
Check and see if you have a "Finishmasters" somewhere nearby. When I did my topside with Imron they really helped. But for the window frames, they actually had some kinda' black, aluminum paint for windows in a can. I just taped them off and sprayed them.
I wouldn't bring it up except for I used the stuff three years ago and it still looks like the day I did it...not bad for the searing FL sun.

I only ran into one problem. While taping the side windows I accidentally squatted down right over the spray can and painted a big, black spot right on my shorts. Well, it happens.
