Big bucket with water hose inputting and remove your cooling intake hose from thru hull and place in full bucket. Have someone watching hoses to make sure they don't pop out.... run engines.

There are probably a few different manufacturers of these but the one I have is called "Fake A Lake". Its a rubber cup, like a plunger, with a hose connection on it and an adjustable leg that holds it in place against the bottom of your hull over the water intake. When hooked up to a garden hose, it supplies enough water to run your engine up tp around 1500 rpm.
You could probably find one on line or at your local marine store.
Hope this Helps

fake lake
if you have a big block of styrofoam around, carve out a bit to cover your intakes and then make a hole in the side to stick your garden hose into so it wedges in the hole. Then take a piece of 2x4 and wedge that against the hull over the intake and turn on the water just after starting the engine. Total cost $0.00 and it is green.

I always start my engines just before launch (don't want to get there and they don't run). I only run them for maybe 10 seconds so heat up is not an issue they are still filled with antifreeze. But I do take the belt off so the pump is not run. A short dry run on the pump will quickly burn out the impeller. You really do not neet the alternator running to start, insure the batteries are up before you start and launch.
