Every time I watch the news on TV I get sick thinking about you guys on the gulf side. Just read the thread about one forum member out of Pensacola. How are the rest of you guys doing?

for the moment, we're unscathed as far as we can see here on Florida's west coast.

Right now Panama City is clear as a bell, but it sure is close. On the bright side, a 30'+ boat will bring you $1900 per day from BP to help with the oil clean up, and they pay for the fuel. $19k for 10 days work aint too bad.... most are sitting at the dock waiting and collecting a check.... Not worth the disaster, but nothing to turn down either.

do they need anymore boats?? I have 2 (actually 1 thats running) available including a 30 ft nigerian gunboat that can carry 5 ton payload

a 5000# aluminum tank full of some type of fluid washed up on shore in Panama City Beach yesterday with a sticker on the side that said Horizon..... see, we put in a request that all of our oil wash up prepackaged..... so far so good! Still no oil.... beaches a re beautiful and packed with bikinis

The oil has entered Pensacola Bay.

The Vessels of Oppurtinity program is paying 1,200.00 - 3,000.00 per day by BP. but once your engines injest the oil, how much will it cost to repair them? Pretty big gamble!

Not to get off subject but quick note to Sehord, I bought my Trojan from Treasure Island Marina in Panama City Beach about 10 years ago, kept it down there for awhile before shipping her north... Nice area. Need to get back down there sometime! 8)

That sucks for Pensacola.....it has been reported that there is a 2mile wide x 40 mile blotch right off pensacola bay.... said its been there slowly moving in and I do not know why they don't start skimming it prior ot it hitting the beach? A lot of money is being spent, but somethings just do not make sense. Good luck to you guys... we are next here in PCB

Oil in your cooling system should flush through... If it did clog anything your temperatures would rise and you should be able to cathc it, but the heat should lube it right through. BPS contract states that any damage to the vessel due to the oil must be paid for by BP.... A local Pontoon boat renter here has 26 pontoon boats leased out for $34,000 per day.... Over a million a month.... not bad

I'm a contractor over here in the Daytona Area, got another buddy ( contractor also ) has 1 20' by 32' small barge with a 8,000 gal vac loader mounted on it, they are paying $ 3,800.00 day for barge & associated equip, $ 31.50 p/hr for skipper, 18.00 p hr for crew member, they suck up 16,000 gal on a good day, 2 trips to close by receiver vessell that off loads vac loader tank, he says this is going to go on for at least 8-10 months ( just surface skimming ) wet lands cleanup will go on much longer, and is thinking bout investing $ 400,000.00 ( bank money ) on a barge that's equipped with 4 vac loaders that will make 9,800.00 a day not counting skipper & crew, must have capt's license for this work.

got my BP call today... hazmat class on monday then start tues AM $1900 per day with 2 crew. Most are done by 2:30 to top off fuel (which BP pays for) and most larger boats are running offshore to look for oil... should be interesting....

Hey striperman.. trasure island marina is still there and going strong..... but the treasure ship burned fairly bad last month... not a total loss, but they are rebuilding her. Love to have you down some time, great beaches to cruise once the oil is gone

Feeling really bad for you guys. We go to the Gulf every year and look forward to seeing some of the beautiful beaches. The thought that it may be spoiled sucks. We've already decided to do Daytona this time because of the spill. Have to wonder how many others are making different plans and how it will affect local tourist economies. Sad. Hope some miracle prevents a worst case cenario. Crossing my fingers and praying for ya.
She was a 1969 36 ft wooden beauty with big blue 440s that we'll miss forever.
