Electric Fuel Cut off valve ?
Right before my fuel pumps there is a solonoid/valve that has 12 volts going to it. It seems to be an electronic cut off valve, it is not working and will not allow any fuel to pass through the valve, it has power and ground. Are these required for safety ? I tried to google some different key words to find replacements, but no luck. Does anyone know what it is called and where i can purchase new ones ?
thanks.
thanks.

I certainly would want a fuel cut-out device if I had a rupture, especially on a boat. Many electric pumps are powered through the oil pressure switch, no oil pressure, no fuel pump...
Is it illegal to a by-pass or remove, you ask? Most likely against USCG standards. But what would your insurance company say if your boat caught fire? And also, family and safety come first...
Does it look similar to this?

Hey thanks for the info, I found out they are not fuel cut off switches at all, they are flotech fuel sensors for the GPH meter in the flybridge. Man are they expensive (210 each) i found a guy with a set on ebay for alot cheaper though. Hopefully the guage works.

It is unlikely the flow sensors for your Flowscan will stop the flow of gas. That is not what they are designed for. If you are not getting any gas to the filter you need to check your anti-siphon check valve and then your pick-up tube in the tank.

yes you should i would mount them in between my Racor and the on engine filter . Now if you were to run a 30 micron like me some stuff could get thru and plug out the sender (I belive there is a screen in the sender)
I wish I had a floscan but the price on a hi flow unit for diesel is big $$$$$ yours would be a lot less ( mine the flow is around 70 GPH)
