mid cabin - wash down switch/pump

Post by BobCT »

Do you guys have a separate switch and/or pump for the aft wash down hook-up?

I have a switch on the DC panel and see a wash down pump on the wiring schematic. As far as I know, I don't have a separate pump, the wash down gets pressure from the fresh water pump in the mid bilge across from the head.

Sherman, you asked me that a while ago and I said "no" there's only one FW pump on the boat.

Can you guys confirm if that's true? Wondering where the washdown pump would be located if there is one.

On my boat the pump is located in the lazarette in the aft deck, port side. I also have the switch on my switch panel (DC-panel), marked with "wash down".

Bob, I have the breaker, but I think the mid cabin does not have a separate washdown pump. I haven't traced it though to see if the wire goes anywhere.

On my 1983 express, there is a fresh water washdown on the starboard side. This is simply a water line plumbed into the pressureized fresh water system.

There is a raw water washdown system on the port side that is plumbed into the lazarette where there is a raw water pump and strainer arrrangement. This is wired to the panel as discussed earlier.

This works great for our 17 gallon portable livewell which is plumbed to dump overboard via the deck scuppers.

Bob,

On the port side there is a raw water washdown with a pull switch next to it and on the starboard side there is a fresh water washdown controlled by the main fresh water pump. The raw water washdown pump is to the port, astern, next to the genny platform.

The main control panel has a washdown breaker, but it does not control my raw water washdown pump. Actually on my boat the radar and loran are tied to it.
