Do you have pyrometers and boost guages?

We're heading out for fireworks on the harbor now...

RWS
This is what I have noticed so far...

When I throttle up quickly onto plane, the dark smoke comes out almost like it's an open window on a house on fire  , back down on throttle, smoke stops.

The boost gauge is basically at zero.

It is working harder to keep up with the other motor, the throttle control is about 1/2" more forward on that motor compared to other.

I am going to take the cover off the intercooler to see what is going on inside.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks for ur help :D :D

I have been a member of the forum boatdiesel.com for several years now.

the $25 annual fee is well worth it.

Post your problem over there and you will get a tremendous amount of valuable advixce that could help you save time and $ and zero in on the problem quickly.

Hopefully this works.
If you look at the cable with the red end, it is connected to a door that is in series with the blower and the air box.
On my bridge, I have what looks like two choke cables each with a t handle on it. If you were to pull one, it closes the air door to shut down the engines in case of a run a way.
I don't believe I have ever seen a boat with 671TI'S that did not have them. They are a must have with any 2 stroke diesel.

Also, The black smoke could just be from the boat being over propped. What is your no load and under load WOT?

Ok, so I think I found the problem, or one of them.

I took the top off the intercooler, look at all the junk on there...

I took the other intercooler cover off as well to see what that one looked like, totally clean and clear of junk.

Maybe I will get my BOOST back

shakedown cruise baby!

Keep making a list.

Mine was so extensive I put it on a spreadsheet and ranked the items in terms of importance.

It still exists!

Much smaller though.

I have only brought them up to WOT under load very very briefly, that is when the port intercooler got clogged, and the smoke started billowing out. It all happened so fast, I didnt really pay attention to the tachs but I think it was around 2500 rpm's....

2500 WOT under load is right where you should be so you are not over propped.
Quite a bit of junk in there. I wonder how they missed that during the rebuild? Looks like you should take that off and have it tanked.
Cleaning that out should make a big difference on the running temp.

At least that is an easy fix. Do you have an outlet for the parts? I get all mine right from J&T. They are very helpful and have had everything I have needed in stock so far.
