I have owned 2 10 meters and am now looking at 11, 12 and 13 meters.
I have looked at two 13 meters with detroits, one with 450s one with 550s. Like the one with 450s better but am concerned over the power the 450s have to push such a big and beamy hull. Anyone know what kind of speed I can expect out of the 450s and how hard i need to run them. I am not a speed demon but also do not want to end up with an under powered boat that needs to run near the pins to get a 20 to 21 not cuise, not good on the fuel economy or the life of the motors. Any help sheading some light on my question would be helpful.

I just purchased a 13 meter express, it has 450 detroits.
I am still trying to get all the bugs out, it was sitting for a while, but @ 2100 rpm's I think I am at like 18 kts
WOT is 2500 rpm's.
I feel this boat needs more power than 450, not that it struggles to get on plane, because it absolutely doesn't (even with full tank 510 gal plus full water 175 gal), but I guess I am just use to cruising at like 23 - 24 knots.
It also has fresh 4 blade props as well as new bottom paint.
just my .02

The Deltaconic hull design in the 10 meter is FLAWLESS with the right torque/prop combination.
The difference between the factory 454's (rated at 330 hp) and the Yanmar 6LP diesels (rated at 315 hp) is a totally different boat.
I wonder how the prop curve looks between these two engines?
That might be your first clue.
Take the info from Doug and plug it into the prop curve data.
Then figure a safe cruise at 80% of WOT.
