6.5 Onan generator

Post by js318 »

My geneator is not charging the generator battery, any ideas?

If i charge the battery separately it starts great, at least until I drain it...

I went thru the same thing. I just put a wire from my charger to the gen battery to keep it charged. Of course on here that solution was about 50/50 that was right or wrong. Many say the gen is supposed to keep the battery charged, but there would have to be some sort of wire from the gen to battery and an alternator, the genny puts out 110 not 12 v? As stated my solution was to put the genny battery on the charger.

Don't know if it's related, but check the three fuses on the genny panel.

I found that my generator battery doesn't charge until the generator breaker is shut. Check the fuses as said previously.
