Hi
It's a long week-end here in Canada (yaeeee) and at this very moment (6:05 PM EST) my wife and I are anchored along the north shore of Big Rideau Lake. The Rideau Lakes are a chain of lakes forty miles long that make up the middle portion of the Rideau Canal and Lock System. The locks were built in the 1830's and are a World Heritage Site. http://www.rideau-info.com/canal/
You can go to Google Maps right now and find me (sort of like Where's Waldo but with a boating flavor). On Google Maps, type in Portland, Ontario, Canada and you will find yourself on the south shore of a large, triangular shaped lake named Big Rideau Lake. Scroll toward the north shore and you'll find Bass Bay. It is a rather long bay, leaning toward the left (NW) and you'll see two islands (one large and one small) on the east side of the entrance to the bay. Immediately further east, beyond these two islands there is a sheltered notch or small bay. I'm anchored in there for the night. The weather's gorgeous, we're all alone, there are no cottages, just wilderness (big pines), water 30 ft deep and warm. Love it.
If anyone else is out there somewhere this week-end, like I am..... let us know where so we can chase it down via online maps and live vicariously in the same anchorage/marina.
Scotch and soda right now
Cheers
Rick
