I removed the rest of the deck in prep for the removal of the tank. Here is a pic of the starboard side. You can see part of the fiberglass tank.
Look at the way the exhaust is mounted. It is hanging from a cross member with some type of strap. Is this a normal way of mounting ? I am thinking I should probably change this. The port side (second pic) is the same, only the frame that it is hanging from has no support !

Made it back to the yard this weekend to remove that fuel tank. Last weekend I drained the remaining fuel. The fuel guage said I had just under a 1/4 tank. I figured if it were accurate, that would mean 60-75 gallons. Wrong ! I emptied just under 100 gallons.

The tank came out easily enough. It had been foamed in, so once I removed all the water-logged foam, the tank was loose. This project started because I found the tank was leaking. When I pulled it out, I expected to find a hole somewhere. What I found was, it was "weeping" in multilple spots.

In 03 i replace my 2 galvanized tanks under my back deck myself.
John at marinetech had the exact replacments, though not galvanized, thank God,
and they were perfect right down to all the fittings being in the same spot, for fill, vent, sending unit, etc.
If he does not have an original of something you want,
hes got a replacment that is usually exact, with updated materials
