Garmin split screen (depth/GPS chartplotter) upstairs, Garmin split screen down stairs, seperate garmin depth down stairs for redundancy, Furuno 48 mi. down stairs (down stairs for bad weather), I use this set up because with an all-in-one unit if you loose one you loose them all, having seperate units, if I loose one, I still have back-up units and I have never had a problem with any of my Garmin units.

Garmin 545s here. Works well, reminds me of the GPS for the car. Put in the port i want to visit and it lists all the docks. Route.. GPS knows the minimum depth and highth of the boat, it does the rest. I set on the bridge and stay on the purple line on the map. lol
So easy a monkey can do it. lol what did i just make myslef?
Love it and the price was right.

RWS, sorry for the delayed response. The Pilot software is updated through the C80 display. If you're having issues, find out what version software you have. It should show up at boot up or consult the manual. Ask your local distributor or go to Raymarine's WEB site and find out what the latest version number is. You can update by getting the software upgrade card from the distributor. Give them the info on your hardware including the control head. Install the card in the C80 chart slot and it will do the rest automatically.
