Some say it reminds them Africa queen trip that Bogie did.. you can only do like 5 or 6 knots while you're in it.

Yes, I'm interested in going but with a 2 year old and a new born I don't think it would work. Not in a 26 foot boat, hopefully when they get older.

I've been wanting to do this trip for sometime but can never find the time to do it.

What marinas do you plan on stopping at? Coinjock/Midway, Elizabeth City, Norfolk/Portsmouth Marinas? Seems like you can do the trip in 3 days if you were in a hurry.

Done the Dismal Swap a few times and it is fun, just be prepared for the water mustache on the bow.

Looks like a great trip - wish I were close enough to participate.

That Cruiser's Net website is really packed with good info.

Midway Marina / Coinjock

Post by rap55 »

Paul mentioned Coinjock...We lost a tranny and turned back to Coinjock and choose Midway Marina. After the staff learned of our troubles they helped us locate an outstanding mechanic, put us up in a slip so we could wait for parts, fired-up the grill and fed us, and over all just treated us strangers like we were family!!! Although we tried to help out around the marina they would`nt let us sweat too much. Anyway...The ships store is well stocked, fuel prices were good, the resturant had great food, the dock and facilities were great, the people were great and after being tied-up at the marina for seven day`s waiting for repairs, when we got ready to pull out, they would only charge us for two day`s because we had transmission problems! I hated to leave...I dont get treated that well at home! Stop in and tell them thier new friends Rick and Tim on the Miss Kitty say hey.

Thanks, Rick / F-36 Miss Kitty

Tony, I firmly believe that spending anymore than 15 minutes on your boat, constitutes cheating on my beloved Trojan, she is very jealous and like a woman scorned, I'd be in big doo-doo!

Maybe I can sneak way without her finding out? :)
