That old top does look pretty heavy. There are lighter ways to build. I'm thinking about a similar project for my F-26. I pulled the windshield off about a week ago. Here is an interesting link to look at:

Hi there!

It just so happens that I have a hardtop on my '71 tricabin. I custom built it about 4 years ago. I live in Alabama, so I didn't want a hurricane taking off my soft top. So for it's been in 2 hurricanes (Ivan & Katrina) and the only damage was one of the plexiglass windows fell out. I also have a radar arch, but I don't use it two support the top. I guess my boat can't really be called a tricabin anymore, i't a quadcabin!
By the way, just accquired a 1975 tricabin, and yes I'am going to put a hardtop on it two.
Have fun!!

I think the Atlantic top will look much nicer and more modern than the one that was on. The one that was on it kind of looked home made too.

Hi,
Below is the address of one of my pictures. I will also be posting some of my '75 tricabin later.
The top is strong enough for me and my son to sit and /or work on it. Remember that it is not connected to the radar arch. The major part of it is 3/4" treated plywood.
Let me know what you think.

I will try to get some more pics added as soon as I can get the time. I at one time had all the pics in my computer of the building of the top and cabin, but hurrican Katrina flooded our house and destroyed my computer
