i friggin love it. like charlie browns xmas tree, it just needs a little love. now i don't feel so bad having my old traveller head from the f-32 and phils bench seat from his van sitting on the front porch. bet ya'll never thought we were 'rednecks'. we live on a main road and i love freaking out the traffic sometimes by going on the front porch and just sitting on that head. i cant even tell you how many near misses i've caused.

OK Foofer - so.......you BOUGHT that dinghy???? Anyhoo, I'd go with either the 3M 5300 or Epoxy. West System has a thickened epoxy that comes in a caulking tube with a mixer head on it. That may be a good choice for hull seam bonding. You can strip the bottom paint with chemical stripper or sand it off (use a respirator). Fill in chunks, voids, etc with thickened epoxy and sand smooth. Primer for bottom paint and hull coatings may be different, but primer would be needed on both. Repaint with roller and brush (roll and tip) method using a one-part poly for the hull, etc, and a decent anti-fouling for the bottom. Should be a good project and one that won't be a tragedy if you mess up along the way. All else fails and you could stand it upright in the front yard with a Madonna inside. Better than the trusty old bathtub my gramma used.

Hey Foofer,
I guess you didn't like the V6 Buick idea huh.
I'll suggest the following then to make it look brand new.
First, remove any wood clean the inner and outer hull really well to get any grease and dirt off of them. Then grind and sand any areas that will require fiberglass repair or filling.
Second, bond the inner and outer hull together using West System with 406 Colloidal Silica filler. Any cracks in the hull should be repaired using West System resin and roving. Then fill any scrapes and gouges using West System with 407 low density fairing filler. This stuff is easy to sand and make smooth and will not be affected by water like body filler would.
Third, prime the boat with Interlux Interprotect. Sand the primer smooth then paint from the waterline up, including inside, with your choice of paint. I would choose Interlux Brightside polyurethane since it's one part, inexpensive and can be applied using the roll & tip method. Be sure to add anti skid material where ever you will be stepping. Then paint the bottom with Interlux Bottom Coat.
Fourth, repair and refinish the wood then re install.
Lastly, strap a bigass outboard, uh, I mean the correct size outboard on the back and all the safety gear required in a ditch bag then go out and have fun.

Land I love it and am encouraged and inspired by your project. It looks great. Thanks for the info on repairing the fiberglass and repainting it guys. Should I glue the two halves back together before tackling the bottom? Also, am not using antifouling on bottom again. I will keep you posted with pics, progress, and questions.
OH and Paul, I already have a 4 stroke outboard monster ready to clamp on- a Yamaha 2.5 hp!!!

Ross, very nice. And foofer, sorry to start the hijacking. Just trying to give some encouragement. Doing resto jobs gets in your blood. Our Trojan is the biggest project i've taken on. The little boats are quick and don't try the paitence of the Mrs....
