FNG

Post by Heefus »

Let me start by saying that boats are a waste of money...or so everyone tells me.

We are on the Potomac River, out of King George county. We can usually be found anchored off of Tim's 2, Gilligans, Colonial Beach, or fishin up in the creeks.

We just picked up a beautiful '76 F28 from a couple that bought her used in 1984. She is in great shape, and it is obvious that her Capitan loved her very much.

We have been in an 88 Wellcraft Nova 23XL for the past two seasons and, while we love her, she just doesn't have the room for us, the three kids, and the GSD :D The wife and I spent every other weekend sleeping on her, and the other other weekends swimming with the kids and running up and down the river.

The new girl is going to be the weekend family cabin, with the occasional run down to the Chesapeake Bay when I feel my wallet is too heavy.

I spent most of my money on boats, beer and women.

The rest I just wasted.

Welcome to our nightmare ... er dream.

Welcome aboard. Haven't seen "FNG" in a while. Cracked me up! F28 is a great boat, and will make a fine family cabin.

A GSD is a German Shepherd Dog. His name is Tiny

I have been a water rat my whole life. Dad grew up commercial fishing in Southeastern Missouri, and he raised us on the Potomac. This is my biggest boat to date, and I am looking forward to the control provided by twin screws, especially in the little marina we will be in. The kids are 15, 9, and 7, and I have had them on the water since they were babies too. Gotta keep the family traditions alive, especially when it amounts to quality time spent together!

Golf is a silly sport anyway

Will do.

We usually hit CB on the 4th, and randomly otherwise. We love Gilligans, but tend to stay closer to home on weekends that we camp (every weekend).

We are gonna drop her off the lift in Mid-March, or after the last freeze, whichever happens first. We are typically on the water from the last freeze till the first freeze. It is just too nice out there to sit at home and wish we were on the boat. We would rather be on the water and cold, than off the water and warm.

Multi quote would be nice (attn: Admin guy)

Awesome, we will certainly take you up on that.

I typically hit the bay around Reedville during striper season, and any reason is a good one to take a "road" trip, even if we can't keep the big'uns.
