Two Heads Better Than One?
A friend of mine had one head removed from his 454 Crusader because of a coolant leak, and they found that it was slightly warped so they milled it. They told him that it was a minimal amount removed and will be reinstalling it soon.
I assume that this will now increase compression slightly on that bank. Shouldn’t he have the other head milled as well to balance out the engine?

Big D,
Definitely have your friend check the other head and at least change both gaskets. Usually if one head/gasket is leaking, the other is not to far behind.
It would be a shame to have to tear it down again to do the other head a year later.

I would be more worried about the other gasket failing then the slight difference in compression . with that said I have done one head many times and not touched the other and never had a problem .Now if the engine overheated badly I would recommend pulling the other head . I would Not let a machine shop check the head for being warp be cuze the will mill it 100% of the time because its warped ( so they say) check it your self and check the specs in the book as some warping is allowed .
baring over heating he should be fine
on diesels its not uncomon to replace 1 cly kit and leave the rest alone or ove haul one side of a engine , with out issues . I know this a gas engine but the idea is the same .

I'd pull the other just cause he's all ready paid to have the engine tore down ,do both sides.
