No damage to the props or the hull. You just go very, very slowly :) We used the ice to hold us still while anchored because it was gusting to 70 in the bay we were hiding in. Worked great, but we woke up with sea otters outside our window!

here's me shoveling the remains of the freezing spray off the bow. There wasn't much else to do.... just waiting for the weather to clear.

heading back in, it was blowing so hard that our radar arch was being pushed to the side!!

Cruising grounds

This is the time of year that we enjoy bare boating in the British Virgin Islands. There's a place on white beach called "The soggy dollar bar" that makes a drink called a "pain killer" and believe me it works. You can stand there in 80 degree water up to your chest and sip away as you share lies with other sailors. The second drink is best drunk in one of the two person hammocks strung between the palm trees as your legs may be a bit rubbery by then.

I can't imagine picking up ice like that. I see it when I watch "Deadliest Catch" but never think of a pleasure boat picking up ice. That's pretty scary to me.

I hear Sea Otter is pretty good if you braise it for a few hours.

I wished I had my nephew or my brother in law with me - they are both native so they can shoot them. The rest of us have to leave them alone.....but I was daydreaming about sea otter boots, gloves, hats....pilllows... you name it. :)

we had major icing on the way up to Fish Bay the first day - the weather forecast called for heavy freezing spray and they weren't kidding.
