Can't believe how much I miss my boat.

It was -35 celsius (-31 fahrenheit) today. The cold water pipe frozen in the back addition to the house. When I turn on the hot water in the sink the toilet fills with hot water. (kind of nice accually). My car decided that it was not going to start this morning. (flooded). When I finally got to work there was nothing for me to do. Everyone cancelled there apointments because of the cold. It is 7:37pm and I just sat down, the pipes are unfrozen , the car is running. All I can think about is How much I miss my boat. After having it only for one season. I haven't even seen it in three months and it will be another couple of months before I start to work on it again. I don't post very much but I read every post. I especially love looking at the pictures people post. Thanks for all the posts. keep the pictures coming!

I'm with you..... I made a winter list when I hauled out in late Oct. I've gotten hardly anything done. What a difference compared to last year when I lived at the yard all winter.

I have a list of things to do. The biggest is replacing the teak deck. After forty years it is time. I will repaint the bilge area and clean up forty years of bad wiring. My wife wants teak and holly on the floors in the cabin. I am going to refinish the iside of the fridge. It is a baby blue colour that is stain and looks old. I think a bright whight would be nice. I also want to put a led light inside it. I reupholstered everything last year but after a season on the boat I was not very happy with the sette (couch). I am going to remove the back that is accualy a bunk and raise the seat bottom to add more storage. The foam I used was good quality to I found it to stiff. When it is done I hope it will be more comfortable. I also want to have a built in bench seat across the stern. We have two chairs and a teak table right now. It is great when it is just the two of us but when we have guests I think the bench would be better. A new holding tank is on order aswell.

I know what you mean about missing your boat, About mid summer last year I was ready to sell mine, even had a for sale sign on her. But I learned some things, even just the other day about an anchor rail mount and other things, that give me renewed interest in our boat.
So, I'm looking forward to warmer weather and getting back on the water again. Seems like a long wait.

Are you kidding me, I am having the worst withdrawl symptoms! 2 weeks ago I sanded and re Cetoled my swim platform, last week I repainted the floor and transom of the dinghy, this week I'm figuring how to mount seats I bought to replace the Helm seat, and the always missing companion seat, why are they always missing, and where do they go??????????? Can't wait for Spring launch, un fortunately still another 2 1/2 months to go GRRRRRRR!!!!

I, too, feel your pain. The old Blue Heron is stuck in a shed behind a 10 foot pile of snow that the plow push in front of her (and her buddies in the shed). Come late March (or maybe April this year) I'll "mog" my way through the mud into the shed, climb aboard, and sit in the cabin with a beer (or ten) and just stare off into space. THEN, I'll start to work getting her ready for another season here on the "Great Sacandahgy"

I know what you mean. I spent many a hour sitting on the boat with a beer or two just staring into space when I am suposed to be working on it. Rossjo please go ahead and post some pics. Have a good trip tomorrow.

P.S I really think there might be a market for heated toilets in Canada.

Don't knock it until you try it.

Withdrawl has set in here too. Here's why boating stops up here for the winter.. The harbour is about a mile across at this point, and the little black dots you see on the ice are people skating or ice fishing.
