Pics of 1980 F26

Here is a link to some pics of the boat I'm looking at on Thur. If it looks good to me plan on having it surveyed. Are there any specific questions that I should ask? Kelly C

Kelly, nice to see another upstate boat. I distributor looks a bit odd, but it may be the electronic ignition was updated. Mine is a 77 and although it has electronic ignition the distributor does not look like that. Ask about it on Thursday. That being said the pictures show the boat to be in pretty original condition, especially the interior (except the added microwave). Some things to do: 1) If you like the boat get a survey done. There have to plenty in that area (assuming the boat is in the Lk Ontario area?) 2) Ask about stringers and core soft spots. These boats are prone to having some core rot over time, usually in the area near the anchor mounts on the starboard bow deck. They also have a tendency to leak right over the side cabin windows due to little or no caulking under the hand-rail mounts. 3) Open up the cabin floor access over the bilge and check what it looks like. There's a hollow keel under the bilge floor that collects water over time and can stink if not drained. Many owners have opened up that area to get access with a manual or electric bilge pump.

Final advice....get a survey before getting into any final negotiations.. Hope it proves out good for you.

2 points yes thats a HEI dist. I have seen this style sold as a marine dist. before so it could be marine but was used on automove from 1973 to mid 80s also

I Belive this maybe a F25 look at the plate over the rudder , I have been told the did not put this on the F26 see the F25 vs F26 post.

It's an F 26
you can see the 26 on the side of the boat and also the slight rise along the side.

I had 2 HEI distributor like that on our 454's and they were automotive. I replaced them with marine distributors.

That is a nice looking boat. It looks as though it has been well maintained and appears well equiped ( a good sign). If you want it, can afford it and the survey checks out, I say (offer him less!!and) buy it.

again sorry
