Engine manufacturer
Does anyone know who actually manufactured the Chrysler 318's for Trojan??? I have a 1977 F-28 and apparently there are 5 manufacturers of this motor. How do you tell which manufacturer made mine?

Chrysler Motors made the 318...and Chrysler Marine put all the components together.tjhjr72 wrote:Does anyone know who actually manufactured the Chrysler 318's for Trojan??? I have a 1977 F-28 and apparently there are 5 manufacturers of this motor. How do you tell which manufacturer made mine?

Only Chrysler made Chrysler 318's and only Chrysler did there own marine conversion ( Chrysler marine) same goes for the 360 383 400 and 440 , anyone that tells you different is Wong or pulling your leg .
Now Trojan offered different engines like the ford 302 and 351 ( marine by Mercruiser) but only 1 318

Chrysler made the Chrysler line of engines. Good info on the web for this. Ford also had a marine division at one time used by OMC, Volvo and others. Chris Craft marinized Fords and GMs. Currently Merc, Crusader, Volvo and others use GM for their gasers.
