Engine manufacturer

Post by tjhjr72 »

Does anyone know who actually manufactured the Chrysler 318's for Trojan??? I have a 1977 F-28 and apparently there are 5 manufacturers of this motor. How do you tell which manufacturer made mine?

Chrysler Motors made the 318...and Chrysler Marine put all the components together.

Kind of confused to your question though...

Only Chrysler made Chrysler 318's and only Chrysler did there own marine conversion ( Chrysler marine) same goes for the 360 383 400 and 440 , anyone that tells you different is Wong or pulling your leg .

Now Trojan offered different engines like the ford 302 and 351 ( marine by Mercruiser) but only 1 318

Chrysler made the Chrysler line of engines. Good info on the web for this. Ford also had a marine division at one time used by OMC, Volvo and others. Chris Craft marinized Fords and GMs. Currently Merc, Crusader, Volvo and others use GM for their gasers.
