thinking about tearing out/ redoing the bathroom....
while I am waiting for our engine parts to show up.... Im thinking about tearing out the fugly shower enclosure/ toilet thingy (you guys know what I'm talking about, right?). We need to replace our macerator pump for the toilet anyway, and we will never use the shower (plus the shower drain pump doesn't work) so I want to tear out the shower enclosure & shower plumbing, & put the toilet at "ground" level instead of being up in the shower thing.
is this crazy talk, or is it doable??

Absolutely. I know your set-up and if you're sure you'll never use the shower, go for it.

The head in many boats has both the toilet and shower in the same space. All you need is a faucet with a removable spout that you hang when you want a shower then put back when done, a floor drain, pump etc, and build cupboards in such a way as to keep water out.

(EDIT : OOPS - by the time I typed this up others had already commented... but thought it worth the laugh anyways so here it is...)
Wowzer... slight correction : SHE heads down to the boat with a sawzall ... (Melissa aka MTurvey is one of the few ladies that dares venture into the forum..... and from the video she posted of her in the disappearing boat (as her daughter swears like a true sailor) http://www.trojanboats.net/wforum/viewt ... highlight= , I recommend you don't mess with her ... )wowzer52 wrote:The man heads down to the boat with a sawzall and comes back and says the bathroom is bigger. That conjures up a vision. Home remodeling Alaska style. At least he didn't use a chain saw.
Melissa - you rock. My wife and I really got a laugh out of this thread!MTurvey wrote:well of course I didn't wait for replies before heading down to the boat with a sawzall...hahhaha - there's no putting this toothpaste back in the tube so to speak. , I couldn't get my foot out of my mouth, dirty socks ya know. I am back peddling. I apologize from the bottom of my wedding vows. My wife, Rimp, on the forum, aka wowzers admiral, is really a great skipper and she loved your video, as did I. Even the salty language was entertaining, That's a sign of a true sailor. As for the sawzall, you have my total respect.
My wife, Rimp, will get a kick out of this. She pretty much calls all the shots for our boat remodeling also. How about some pics, while I try to regain my composure

I leave the sewing to my son. You know, historically sewing on a boat was a man thing, sooooo......
I come from a long line of tugboat/ fishing boat captains and they all did macrame and latch hook rugs to pass the time out there. Weird.
Anyhoo - I will get some pics up eventually - there is a big hole in the floor between the shower stall thingy and the floor in front of the sink. I wasn't counting on that.... but the neato thing is that I can see down into the hull!
