Has anyone every tried this stuff?

Its time for me to replace my vc17 anti-fouling and saw this in a newsletter:

I can see why no one has responded to this post. I clicked on the site, but nowhere could I find where they sell this stuff or how much it cost. Maybe I missed something, if you know, let us know?

No experience with it, but claims are out of this world... NOTHING lasts 10 years, so if they have something that does, they will put Interlux out of business. Personally, I wouldn't touch it. Though they claim fantastic results, they also say 'Steve' - aka the painter - helped the chemist and metallurgist improve the formula.... if the product was any good in the first place, I find it hard to believe a painter could educate the chemist and metallurgist....

Also.. if its so darn good, where are the 'after 10 years' photos, or customer testimonials on the web site? All you see here is the 'day after application and the boat still hasn't seen water' photos.

There has also been some related chatter in another site (and I won't say that it was a Sea Ray forum) .... someone quoted that the product is a 2 part epoxy, and cost $400 for a gallon of part A and a gallon of part B (so 2 gallons of bottom coat = $400). It also makes me nervous when application instructions say to take 40 grit and sand of the top layer of gelcote... you only HAVE one layer of it... so what are you really doing to your hull?

Lots of promises, 0 evidence to back them up. But its your money .... If you decide to gamble, let us know what happens.

On there web site only small trailer boats shown . The brochure shows 1 poor photo of a bigger boat . Make you wonder . It sounds like it works like prop coat , but even prop coat only lasts a year

It's funny, but does anyone know where to by it, or an advertised price. I agree with all that is said here also, I think,,,,no,,,I know, I would pass on this one.

Something else that bugs me about advertisers who say,,,,call for a price. I don't like to "have" to call for a price, or anything, for that matter. If I can't see a price, or a product, "on" the web site, I stay clear of them. If their to lazy, or unable, or what ever to advertise, show, and price a product, then they will not get my business. Ther are to many out there that will bend over backwards to earn your business to waste my time with those who, just don't have time to answer an e mail, from a customer, to bother with.

Looks like a mom and pop company. Wish them luck, but doubt the claims can be substantiated. No bottom paint lasts that long (or looks that pretty). As for hull blisters, I am not sure, but my F26 has a solid fiberglass hull that's at least 1/2" thick. How that would delaminate and blister is beyond me. I spent the bucks a few years ago and had the bottom stripped and epoxy coated then new bottom paint applied. Probably a waste of money for the first step.

Randy, first step is the best money you've spent on your hull IMO. Cored or solid hulls will blister due to the porosity of the gel. An epoxy bottom job if done right will prevent water intrusion and blisters.

Unless you sand blast the bottom , no need to epoxy coat . Trojan hull don't seem to have issues with blisters like some other brands do.

The hulls that have blister issues that get repaired and epoxy coated , seem to still have issues with blisters .
