Duel shore power plugs

Can some one tell me how these are hooked up? I'm trying to help a friend with an 84 F-32 with duel shore power plugs. The wiring looks like a rats nest and many things don't work. Does each plug service half the boat or just certain items? I'll be starting from scratch at the shore power plugs.

Yes the boat is split up , you can also the run the complete boat on of one there is a switch to do this but it is easy to overload 1 circuit . If that switch is left in the one position you will pop the breakers when hooking up both . rec using both

On mine the switch to run on 1 is between the main breakers one main breaker must but off to use this or pop goes the mains

What Paul said is the way I've seen most set up. Is there a genny in the mix? I seem to recall that it complicates things somewhat for safety reasons. I also recall a post some time ago where wiring diagrams were included. Perhaps doing a search would help.

There is a gen but the water intake has been disconnected, haven't had a chance to check that out or try to get the gen running, a whole can of worms by itself. Wiring is laying loose in the bilge over the top of the gen and through the cabinets, what a mess. I don't think he has both shore powers plugged in but I will check. The 12v/110v fridge does not work without the 12v hooked up at this point. I will see if he has diagrams that might help. Thanks for your help.

My Tri-Cabin "Basket Case" has a similar setup which I am still debugging. The boat has aft port & stbd 30 amp inlets and on the main 120vac panel, there are two "Main" breakers with a center breaker than allows both sides to be serviced by one inlet. I have not tried to connect a 2nd 30amp cord yet but I'm assuming that if I do, I will have to open the center breaker so that the two mains are separated on the panel and not connected by that center "jumper" breaker. Is that correct guys?

I have the schematic if you want. I can fax it, maybe it'll help. Line 1 and line 2, each separate into the fuse panel via indivual main breakers.. On my boat one line services starboard receptacles, one line, port with air conditioner on line 2. Water heater is on line 1.

It would be great to get that schematic! Is there any way to scan and e-mail it? The only fax machine I have available is one here at work. I can give you that number but I would have to know approx when it would be coming over so it's not sitting around and some secretary would just dispose of it. Actually, Jaime the pictures of the diagrams you posted have enough detail for me to see. My boat is much older so some of this doesn't apply but I can get some generic AC feed info out of it. Thanks!
