In short, get a survey. If nothing else, any deficiencies found may also serve as a bargaining tool when negotiating the final price, and you'll need it for insurance purposes anyway.
She was a 1969 36 ft wooden beauty with big blue 440s that we'll miss forever.

Also what you find is going to depend on the boat's history (obviously). A salt water fish boat and a fresh water family cruiser are going to show different problem areas.
For what it's worth, the A/C in mine is under the forward dinette seat, but that's not an optimal spot because its hard to run ducting back to the salon to keep it cool.

Survey !!!
Survey...Survey...Survey to avoid Mayday...Mayday...Mayday !!! Find a reputable yacht surveyor who has no connection to owner , broker or marina. As bad as we all want our purchase to be a great buy...Haul her out and let a surveyor look at her inside and out. Could be an all day thing but at least you will have a pretty good idea where you stand. Most marinas require insurance and insurance will require a survey. At least that's what I found out. Good Luck and Welcome Aboard !!!

in my1978 f32. i have a cruisair split system ,there is a evaporator/blower assembly in the stbd side wall in the salon the air return grille is mounted in the center sliding panel. when it is shut it lines up with the unit. the unit is right behind it. the condensor/compressor is mounted between the aft fuel tanks above the fresh water tank under the cockpit floor. there is also a evaporator and blower assy in the v berth. the refrigerent lines are tee'd from the freon lines to the other .
