VINYL
Hi all,
Need some help with removing vinyl from the wood and fiberglass walls of the bathroom.
Having a real difficult time pulling it off the fiberglass walls of the boat.
Does anyone know a trick in removing the vinyl?
Thanks,
Larry[/list]

I used industrial floor stripper from Lowes.
One step up from adhesive remover.
I painted it over the vinyl wall covering and let it soak it...made it much easier to remove the vinyl wall covering. I then re applied the stripper to remove the glue. It is a tedious task for sure.
Be careful with the fumes.....

best is using a heat gun, tedious.
What are you planning on recovering it with Larry? More vinyl? Or wood, or wallpaper?
That decision will determine just how badly you need to make the surface clean.

Largo, there is an inexpensive tool sold at most paint and wallpaper stores that you hold in the palm of your hand and swirl it around on the wallpaper surface. This perferates the wallcovering which allows the stripper to penatrate into the glue under the wallcovering. Cuts a lot of time from the unpleasent task

I just covered my vinyl with new vinyl wallpaper... chose a design that was not flat so as not to show imperfections.
Worked fine:

Teak plywood 1/8" thick that would hide it.

Larry,
When I stripped the vinyl off of my bulkheads, I first peeled off the vinyl then I tried a couple of different strippers that didn't work. Ended up using a heat gun to get the glue off but it was a ton of work. SRD stated that floor stripper worked for him and in my opinion, if you can break it down with a stripper you'd be much better off. Maybe SRD can post the type?
