Any danger involved
I was considering installing underwater transom lights but have decided against it. I think I am going to add two lights under the platform instead ( the brand I am looking at is Barnegat). Has anyone used them? What are your thoughts? Good or bad. Also, I thought I read once to be careful when running wire under deck because of the gas fumes??? If this is true what are the concerns and how to avoid. I asume something with spark and Boom!

If you'd have that much raw gas coming out of your exhaust that LED lights could set it off , you have bigger troubles in the engine compartment . So I would worry about it much. Just seal everything up real good.

Just rember if you are using their under water lights ( and most anyone elses) They must be used underwater or they will over heat .

In addition, if you install those lights under the swim platform and not underwater, all you will get is the reflection of the lights off the water. No underwater glow.

Some lights are designed to run above water. Some are designed to run strictly under water for cooling purposes....and being LED doesn't always mean they run cool. High powered units can put out a lot of heat. For those designed to operate out of the water, their casing is usually a heatsink. Then there are amphibious units that can be used above or below the water line. If you get ones that are underwater only, hook up a pilot light at the helm in case you happen to leave them on overnight, forget that they are still on in the morning, then leave the anchorage. Seen it happen, very expensive. If on plain, and the lights are on, you'll burn them out. The pilot light will be a reminder they're on.
Wire it up properly and according to manufacturer's instructions, fuse, and you should be OK.
