work on wood boats!!
Fortunatly ( or un..... ) I have turned a life long obssesion with classic boats into my business.
A plumber by trade ( own a small plumbing contracting business ) I and another person opened up a wood boat restoration and repair business called B & R Woodies. We are located at Southwinds Marina on Grand Lake in Oklahoma.
So Now my hobby is my headache ... just kidding how many people actually do what they love everyday, I consider myself fortunate.
Like most of us I look forward to warmer days ..... which for us is very soon.
I should mention beer here somewhere !!
I enjoy helping people who are interested in preserving classic wooden boats.
But I can't wait to pull into a cove next month and forget about working on anything!!!

I forgot to mention my drink of choice.... and I am afraid I will stick out like a sore thumb, but beer is not all that great. On our boat, and at our marina, a good drink with rum along with some island music is the way to go....

I've wanted to go to Alaska all my life and when my wife said "we're not getting any younger, lets go" I booked a ferry cabin that day. Whoo-hoo

spare time?
We fish for fun - Carolinas, Mexico and Florida (in key West next week, Zihuatanejo in May). I own 5 boats, so we boat A LOT!
I played hockey in college (in the midwest), raced motorcycles through my 20's and 30s (ouch!), and have a couple of sports cars (77 Corvette and 65 Sunbeam Tiger show car).
Spare time? Not enough - too much work, but I love that as well.
I'm a director at a medium size software company - which occupies a lot of time.
I own a startup company RNR Marine, Inc., where we are rolling out our 1st prduct ... the T-Topless, for center console boats.
I am also VP of a consulting company for engineering, technology, quality and manufacturing, but do little except occasional consulting gigs or expert witness work.
I do a fair amount of stock trading, but no longer have the time to do it justice, so I win a few here and there.
I hate to sleep ... wish there were more hours/years to do it all!

Add me to the list of guys who spend way too much time messing around with my Trojan. Other than that:
- Kids all grown and out of the house - making kids of their own - 5 grandkids with one more due in June.
- I run a medium sized manufacturing company but plan on retiring the end of next year -
- Wife and I travel as much a possible (she's retired, so my honey-do list has grown considerably)
- Planning a trip (our first) on NY Canals and Lakes Ontario, Seneca and Cayuga this summer (as well as visiting grandson no. 6 in Rochester!)
- Read this Forum at least once a day.
Think Spring!

I used to work two full time jobs for twenty plus years but finally gave up one job.... I now feel, just working ten hour days, that I'm semi-retired...
Unfortunately I don't really have any active winter time hobbies anymore.. used to be a snowmobiler for years but the kids grow up and loss interest and so did I.... I am a technical extented range scubadiver that enjoys a nice triple digit deep dive every once in awhile but not lately... planning on making my trojan into a recreational diveboat for myself and family members and diving Lake Michigan this summer. I do travel as much as I can, seldom spend weekends at home, have a g/f in Indiana and we meet each weekend whenever possible. Looking forward to spring and summer months, cruising the Lake and just enjoying some relaxing time aboard during the weekends

Im in the building business and I have discovered that no man can escape the LIST, its never ending and constantly updated.. I pray for summer. All winter! I scour ebay for trinkets to buy for the boat. And I try to collect from deadbeat customers to pay for the trinkets..

Honey Do List
Here is what I do with my Honey-Do list.
I cross things off the top and re-write them at the bottom so it always looks like I am doing something on the list.
Then I go and have a cold beer and polish the boat.

When not boating.
Since I work part for a boat repair place, I am around boats all the time.
Most of my cost for pulling and storage is free so I always have a place
to work on my boat. This is what I do when it is cold.

I'm New to the site but very impressed with the knowledge and hospitality of everyone I've met so far. I own an industrial coatings company. We install a product called "Polyurea" , Its basically an industrial version of "Linex" truckbed liner. We also install polyurthane spray foam insulation.
When I'm not trying to earn a paycheck I'm either Working on the trojan, Keeping the 2 kids from killing each other (3 and 6). Scuba Diving, or working on the house. (Beer is somehow involved with all activites).
Gave up Snowboarding and skiing about six years ago. The Wife decided that since we couldn't afford to boat and ski, She'd rather get a bigger boat. I knew there was reason I married her!
We have our 1987 10 meter "Double Pote-N-Sea, a 1992 Scout 155 center console "Low Pote-N-Sea" , and my "sons" boat our 10ft achillies Dingy with a 6hp outboard. Sold our Yamaha waverunner last year because I got sick of winterizing 4 boats and a Swiming pool every season.

chumwithabottleofrum,
Where are you from? What products do you sell? My coatings site is http://www.envirocoating.com and my foam site is http://www.delawaresprayfoam.com (the foam sites kind of lame, I need to redo it.)
I'm in the process of redoing my boat and am toying with the Idea of coating the inside of hull with about 1 inch of 2lb foam to take some load off the the ac. Can't decide if its worth the effort.
