I have Edelbrock marine Performers in mine. I like them better than Quadrajets.

While we're on the topic of carbs, has anyone actually pulled their 2 BBL and manifold and replaced it with a 4-BBL that has extra small primaries? I would be interested if there are significant fuel savings but with enough power just running on the primaries. My guess is that the primaries would have to be able to get the boat out of the hole without the secondaries kicking in...or maybe use the secondaries to get it up on plane then throttle back to a nice economical cruising speed on the small primaries alone? Anyone do this???

You just hit on why Q-jet carbs are such a good setup yes they've got their flaws. But with the small primary's it a good cruising carb yea it dumps gas at wot but back off it and it does its job well.
As far as taking a 2 barrel carb off and putting a 4 on your cam is also a player here you'd have to make sure it'll give you the lift and vacum you need.

The 2 barrell will do just as well and you can't open up the back 2 when you don't have them.

to answer a couple of questions,
I dont have a foam float
it dosent leak
yes the engine came with a two barrel Rochester
and no Im not going to take the engine apart to add a 4 barrel carb, for what? it runs just fine the way it is, I dont see spending more money and time for a good running engine and possibly opening a can of worms,
I installed a pressure regulator today and it worked just fine
I dont know why the previous owner, or the engine supplier opted to use an elecric pump, but you can see the engine was built/ordered with this set up,
again, this was only a problem while at idle, when you hit it,
the engine runs like a bear, no issues , with power to spare
thanks for all the input

How many CFM is the 2bbl carb that you guys are talking about? I can't imagine anything less than a 4bbl on my 350. I'm pretty sure that my Q-Jet is in the 650 cfm range.

Why a electric pump ? many of the last small blocks where not machined to take mechanical one.
