Day of HORROR

Post by larglo »

Hi all,

Yesterday I survived my first encounter with a huge storm on our boat. When I went to the boat yesterday, it was cloudy and raining off and on, but didn't think to much about it, cause it was warm and wanted to spend time on the Lady G. All of a sudden the wind started picking up and as I looked out over the lake, I could actually see white caps coming toward me. I thought, on boy,,,,I think I'm in for it. Then it hit,,,,,wind so hard, I thought the US flag was going to ripe off it's mast,,,,the boat started rocking up and down,,,,back and forth. Rain so hard, I couldn't see 4 feet in front of me.

I thought to my self,,,,,,should I abandon ship? No, I said to myself,,,,I'll go down with her,,,,if I have to. After about 10 minutes of pure horror,,,,the wind suddenly stopped, it was calm,,,,I looked around, the flag was still there.

I had survived my first storm,,,,,,,,,thank goodness,,,,,,I was still in the slip. :D :D :D

Too funny ... storms build character ... or characters ;-)

Had a huge storm hit us 40 miles offshore in our 26 Chapparal Express Fish (single 454). We battled 12 following seas all the way home (30 knots downhill and 5 knots uphill) with a damaged steering cable (only turned right or straight). Never want to do that again!

That storm line blew through here earlier this morning. Went on out in the Atlantic (which is rare - they usually dissipate or go north).
