Drip Drip Drip

Post by jhalb »

I re-hooked my 3/8 water line to my cockpit sink and cant get it to stop dripping at the junction. It's only a drip every two minutes but its bugging me. I don't know if it just needs tightened or a new washer. Home depot and lowes dont carry this system. It's a black nut with fine threads, rubber washer and metal slip washer. One person told me to check a RV dealer but I would like to find parts online. 1983 10 Meter.

Most likely just the rubber washer ,H D or Lowe's or most any hardware store should be able to match it up

John - Lowe's carries quick disconnect fittings that will work. You want 3/8" even though the poly pipe is marked 1/2" which is the O.D. Watts is one brand and they carry another that has a yellow colored ring on each end and you tighten each side. Both work fine.

I've used a couple of each and have started to add shutoff valves too. BTW, if your windshield washer solenoid sticks "on" there's no way to shut it off other than turning off the freshwater pump. I added a shutoff valve to the line that goes up to the solenoid. On the 10m mid cabin, that's right under the garbage can in the galley. I also added one at the wetbar so I can move it easily and at the HW heater.

I've had back luck trying to get the old fittings to seal again once they're removed.

Turns out it was a missing O ring. I'm suprised it wasn't leaking more.
