I just pulled the shafts from my F28 and Bob is sending me cutlass bearings. I examined the strut, in particular the area surrounding the cutlass bearing. I cannot locate any set screws to remove.
Do some of the cutlass bearings stay in by press only without setscrews? I am told the brass outer shell is pretty thin on these and ergo a set screw might collapse the bearing?

Sometimes a small set might be there sometimes not. I have seen them both ways. If there is no set screw then they are pressed in.
Here is a walk through.

Not all have set screws. Wouldn't worry about it unless it's a loose fit. Put them in the freezer first, get everything ready to install, pull one out and install it before removing the other out of the freezer.

Made a puller and pressed them right out, they were tight and no set screws. Got the new bearings from Beacon. Not going to put them in untill ready to button the project up. Will Freezed them in styrofoam cups with tops so I have a little more time to press them back in, my puller pressed them out it should be able to easily press them in.
