I have a 1980 Tri Cabin with the engines under the salon. My problem is how is the rug cut in around the hatches. The way the hatches overlay each other is a problem.Any pictures or comments would be great. thanks.

I have posted one photo of the salon in our tri-cabin that was taken when I first bought the boat. We have a runner down the center so the seams are a little hard to see but they match up perfectly as this one shows in front of the cabinets.

Here is a quick sketch I just made here at work that shows how my engine covers are constructed and what the joint looks like. They fit very snugly into place and there are four total covers - two narrower ones down the center that allow me to check oil and all items in the engine room and two larger ones over each engine that give full access to the engines and the entire area. I have a D-ring type of pull up opener in the front center one to get the first one out.

I may be at the marina this weekend and if you want I can get more photos that specifically address what you are needing.

Hope this helps.

i have the same layout. the previous owners had the boat recarpeted in 2005 and the carpet edges are tucked under at the hatch edges. if you want, i can take a few pics and email them to you to give you an idea.

Please excuse the dirt - I am in the process of cleaning before launch. I am putting it in the water next Friday - the 13th. Hope that's not a bad omen.

That's the way mine is. It sounds like Aaron's might be different and I think he will get photos of his also if you want.

Aaron is a wealth of knowledge about tri-cabins since his dad bought one in the early 70's and he grew up on one. He is a walking encyclopedia about tri-cabins and Trojans in general and he loves helping so don't be afraid to ask him anything. He works as a flight attendant and is not always on the forum on a daily basis but he will get back to you.
